Aaron Kipnis

Aaron is now Emeritus faculty and has taught for the last 17 years at Pacifica and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2005. Outside the classroom, Aaron is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Santa Monica. He is often featured expert on juvenile justice and gender issues for national news media and as an advisor to organizations such as the Little Hoover Commission’s Task Force on Youth Crime and Violence, The Center for Psychology and Social Change, The California Youth Authority, and The Harvard School of Education.Aaron’s research on juveniles at risk for incarceration was featured in the award winning documentary film JUVIES (2004). He also is the producer of an award winning, documentary film, AWAKENING (2006), about the psychology of women in Afghanistan and India who are liberating their families from severe poverty. He teaches Cultural Psychology, Community and Ecological Field-Work, Scholarly Writing, Dissertation Research, Clinical Practice and Psychopathology. He is the author of The Midas Complex: How Money Drives Us Crazy and What We Can Do About It (2013), Knights Without Armor (1991/2004) and Angry Young Men: How Parents, Teachers, and Counselors Can Help “Bad Boys” Become Good Men (1999). He is coauthor of’ Gender War, Gender Peace (1994) and What Women and Men Really Want (1995), and a contributor to many anthologies and journals.
