Pacifica Peer Mentorship Program offers incoming graduate students guidance, support, and valuable connections

The Pacifica Peer Mentorship Program offers incoming graduate students guidance, support, and valuable connections to navigate the academic and professional challenges of their first year of graduate studies. The program is designed to foster a sense of community, promote academic success, enhance the overall graduate experience, and improve first-year retention rates.

Beginning a graduate academic journey often comes with many questions, anxieties, and a desire to connect with someone who has recently walked the same path. This peer mentorship program provides incoming students with the opportunity to be paired with current students before they even arrive on campus or begin their first quarter. Mentors serve as a resource to answer general questions, direct mentees to institutional resources, and share insights from their own academic journey at Pacifica.

Mentors also benefit by gaining valuable experience applying their education from Pacifica. They embody Pacifica’s mission of “tending the soul of and in the world” by introducing incoming students to the campus and the traditions of depth psychology.

Pairings, Availability, and Guidelines

Mentee and mentor pairings are subject to availability on a first come, first served basis. The duration of mentorship depends on the mentee’s needs and the mentor’s availability.

Mentors must be in good academic standing. Any conduct-related violations that occurred in the last 12 months will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Mentor applications will be reviewed and approved by a committee of faculty and staff.

Both mentors and mentees will need to download, review, and sign the mentorship guidelines and waiver form.
These documents will need to be reviewed and signed before any mentor or mentee can participate.
